What better way to celebrate American Independence Day on 4th July than watching not one, but two great and talented musicians from The States perform right in the centre of Leighton Buzzard?

Boris and the Joy is Boris Pelekh, the New York based guitarist from US band Gogol Bordello. Boris and the Joy is Pelekh’s new project and he’s going to be touring Europe with his ‘Europe Love Tour’. Last month he was on an extensive tour of North America, but chose Leighton Buzzard’s famous independent event’s venue, ‘The Crooked Crow Bar’ in Waterbourne Walk for his 4th July celebration of music!

Pelekh is talented, a multi-instrumentalist and a composer, Soviet born - who would have guessed that with his name being ‘Boris’ - and now based in NYC. He’s a one man band versatilely playing an electric guitar, an acoustic guitar and a bass drum, tapping some pedals and all attached to an amp!

Boris has been with the Gogol Bordello band, well known in the States, as their guitarist for the last 8 years. In his time as a musician, he’s played around the world with some of music’s finest, and has stories to share!

Supporting Boris on Independence Day is Dante Caroselli from Mount Olive, New Jersey and presently living and performing around Brooklyn, New York. Dante, a truly professional musician, received his BA in Music Composition & Performance from the Anderson Centre for the Arts at Hartwick College. He has composed for string orchestra, choir, wind band and jazz ensemble. He’s also been in ‘Gas Attack’ a band at the forefront of the Boston punk, hardcore, and metal scenes for over 24 years! ‘Gas Attack was formed in 2002 by former members of Boston street punk band, Androstine. They began as a heavy punk band with thrash and power violence influences, but over the course of more than a decade, created their own brand of crossover they like to call "Party Violence." After 5 albums, and multiple arrests, Gas Attack continues to evolve. They stay at the top of the Brooklyn punk and metal scenes, along with the most wanted list.’ Dante has been on vocals for them for the last 13 years or so. He has recently composed the music score for the animated series “The U.S.S. New York.”
