Woburn Abbey awarded for Best Innovation

Woburn Abbey has been awarded the Judges Special Award in the Best Innovation category at the 2016 Hudson' Heritage Awards.

The Best Innovation award commends clever commercial ideas, the Woburn Abbey was recognised for an Outstandingly Good Idea for its Young Curators’ Days.

The programme was developed in collaboration with its local primary school, it is the culmination of a learning programme for 23 children aged between seven and nine.

The days allowed school children to interact with the house and its history, they lead tours, develop trails and act as stewards to demonstrate their knowledge of the house and its history to family groups.

The awards, established in 2011, are an independently judged annual national scheme open to historic homes, gardens, museums and heritage sites to celebrate the best visitor experiences.
